1. Summary#
The 1958 National Child Development Study (NCDS) is a multidisciplinary national longitudinal birth cohort study following the lives of over 17,000 people born in 1958. The study aims to improve understanding of the factors affecting human development over the whole lifespan. Data are collected about physical and educational development, economic circumstances, employment, family life, health behaviour, wellbeing, social participation and attitudes, including towards retirement and ageing.
